The swastika is Hindu.
The Buddhist version is neither Hindu nor related to solar worship. The Buddhist version is more intellectual and almost Dionysian in design. As almost a lifetime of research has gone into my present thinking, I can state - with 85% certainty - that the Buddhist version is based on the rotation of the northern sky about the pole star!
I had it (the Buddhist design) silk-screened onto coffee mugs. That's all.
BTW: From the inside (of Buddhism) there are eight 'fold' paths and from the outside there are eight 'fold' paths. Both lead to the four truths...
